Hello all interested in spearfishing competitions!

We announce the 53rd year of the Australian Pacific Coast Championship (APCC) held at Nelson Bay, Port Stephens. This spectacular comp is held over 3 days: Friday 6th, Sat 7th, Sun 8th of April.

The comp is organised by the Newcastle Neptunes spearfishing club and offers great days diving, competition, fish and $15,000 in cash and prizes. Each year the comp attracts many divers from the north and south coast clubs as well as many local divers. How does it work? Friday is an intro day with 4 hours of competition, which focuses on junior development. This day is good for a meet and greet, but also points are awarded and great prizes on offer.

Saturday and Sunday are the main days of the comp in which scores are combined, added up and awarded with prizes for all grades and ages. There is also a big fish shootout that runs over the Saturday and Sunday in which the biggest fish wins the cash prize.

PLEASE NOTE: THERE IS A FISH AUCTION AFTER THE SATURDAY AND SUNDAYS COMPS. Proceeds go to the Westpac Helicopter Service.

It is a fantastic comp with great prizes and spectacular fish weighed each year.

What does it cost? Cost per senior diver is $80, $40 for juniors and ladies, and $10 for sub juniors who are only diving the Friday. This includes food and drinks after each day’s diving and a presentation dinner. Divers must be USFA financial and have appropriate safety gear Float W/flag, mirror and whistle.

Coming from far? There is a huge range of accommodation available (not included). Just Google Port Stephens, Nelson bay, Shoal bay.

More about Newcastle Neptunes Newcastle Neptunes started on the sixteenth day of October 1953, and it is the oldest and the largest spearfishing club in Australia.

The original formation of the Underwater Spearfishermen's Association of New South Wales was based in Sydney in 1948. Competitions in those days were unrestricted and held from dawn till dark, irrespective of weather conditions.

Look forward to seeing you at the comp!

    Cheers, Tyler
